Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov proposed to place an air defense base in the Shali region of the republic , he wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“In modern conditions, Russia needs new strategic military solutions. <…> First of all, I believe that in the mountains of the Chechen Republic, on the southern borders of Russia, air defense systems are in demand more than ever, — he wrote. According to Kadyrov, Russia needs to take “preemptive tactical measures.”
Kadyrov also said that four Akhmat battalions were fully manned in the republic. He announced their formation at the end of June, stating that they would include “an impressive number of personnel”— “exclusively Chechen guys.” In the special forces regiment “Akhmat-North” entered the fighters who participated in the hostilities in Syria and Ukraine, he said.
The 42nd Evpatoria Red Banner Guards Motorized Rifle Division of the Southern Military District (SMD) is stationed in Chechnya. The division is armed with self-propelled howitzers self-propelled guns “Msta-S”, tanks T-72B3, BTR-82A, as well as electronic warfare and satellite communications.
