The operations of the CSTO peacekeeping forces in Kazakhstan will be led by the commander of the Airborne Forces, Colonel General Andrei Serdyukov, said the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Major General Igor Konashenkov.

The air group created by the Russian Ministry of Defense consists of more Seventy Il-76 aircraft and five An-124 aircraft around the clock airlift units of the Russian contingent of the CSTO peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan.

The Russian peacekeeping forces include units of the 45th separate brigade of the special forces of the Airborne Forces, the 98th airborne division and 31 1st separate airborne brigade.
