An American multiple launch rocket system was destroyed near the village of Konstantinovka in the north of the DPR (MLRS) HIMARS and up to 30 combat crew members, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.

On August 2, the head of the Russian military department, Sergei Shoigu, said that since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, six HIMARS installations had been destroyed. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine allowed the use of HIMARS against targets in Crimea (Ukraine considers Crimea an occupied territory; Russia, which the peninsula became part of after a referendum in 2014, has repeatedly said that it considers the issue of its ownership closed).

Advisor to the head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Mikhail Podolyak, said earlier that Kyiv would like to receive 50 HIMARS systems and this “completely changed the course [of hostilities]”. At the same time, he stated that it would cost “$200 million + ammunition.”

In the Kremlin, speaking about the transfer of American multiple launch rocket systems to Kyiv, they noted that this would not contribute to the resumption peace negotiations.
